Was just wondering...about life and living?

Does anyone ever wish this were it. I mean that your life could end tomorrow. Seriously, if you look around, and I am generally optimistic, but if you look around, everyone is fighting about something, people are unkind to people, you work yourself to death just to be fired when you are older so that they can hire a younger more "productive" worker, and I was just curious, why bother?
Answer:
Kid, you need to get yourself a good looking feller, take him off to Tennessee for a few days, and remind yourself of the good things n life.
Oh yes, i know what you are talking about.

You have a depressed mind though. So have i. So have lots of people.

This is what they call a depressed mind anyway - but sometimes i think its just being honest with yourself.

Its all c****. To be honest, if i didn't have to have been born - i wouldn't of.
You sound like my daughter her glass isn't only half empty someone has knocked it over and dropped a cigarette but into it.
Life is great, grab it with both hands. Have a run out to the cemetery and ask yourself, would any of them rather be looking at the wrong side of a flowerbed or standing with you in the fresh air
yes. yes. yes. yes. YES. i want that ALL the time. to be honest actually, i just wish there could be a natural disaster that will just kill everyone fast, and painlessly and put them out of their misery. don't get me wrong i don't want people to die like that, but i hate seeing all the wrong and misery in the world. i guess i just don't appreciate the little stuff as much..but yes. i understand what you mean. why bother with everything? what does it come down to at the end?!
Why do people go to university?

Education is like money.

Serves no purpose when your dead!
i like the idea of living,,,,,,,,,,,, i do find it pointless.... but its still nice.. like i wanna experience things....

you have to take the good with the bad i guess...

i jus dont like the idea of what happens after u die... i mean after living your life.. ther must be something more out ther... after putting so much work into living...

i think i will just live life to the full from now on. take risks. (not life threatning ones) i mean best to say u done what u wanted ......... xxx
I guess we all ask ourselves this many times in a lifetime. I remember when my eldest son was just a boy - a comment he came out with was 'I didn't ask to be born' - it has lived with me ever since. The saying is really true for ALL of us.

So we are here! We are a part of life, including more than humans, and with our so called intelligence, we should realise that everyone else has the potential for or has the same situation. Probably the best thing we can do is to get satisfaction from this sharing, by sharing ourselves with others so that we can all have a more satisfying and comfortable existence. That would be inclusive of so many needs of mankind - and to me, education in all aspects is the answer.
Would there be such thing as good if there was no bad. I mean if there was nothing bad everything would be good, so you cant really say something is good since everything would be the same. Would there be beautiful if there was no ugly? If everyone was beautiful, then everyone would be the same and no one would really be beautiful. That is the balance of nature. You cant have all the positive things. There always has to be something opposite of it to balance it out.

There's always something good hidden behind things that seem bad. If there were no wars or diseases, our already overpopulated world would be even more overpopulated.

"you work yourself to death just to be fired when you are older so that they can hire a younger more "productive" worker" ---%26gt; once you were the "more prodcutive" worker that replaced the old guy. Eveyone needs a turn in life. An old person dies, and a baby is born. It's all about the balance of nature.
yep, wish it would end most of the time. but unlike you, i am totally pessimistic, so that kinda makes sense.
1life live it coz were a long time dead....

Wandering Mind, Restless Nights?

I have been really stressed/really anticipating current events going on in my life, and my mind has been wondering around at night lately, so I can't get to sleep! How do I calm myself down, or help my mind relax?
Answer:
You need to find a way to stop thinking about things like that at night. I used to have the same problem.

What works for me sometimes is changing my thoughts from something serious to something stupid and meaningless. You could try solving math problems in your head as you fall asleep. Thinking about boring things really does work sometimes.

If you're not opposed to sleeping pills, they really work. You might try a few OTC brands to see if theres one you like. Your doctor can also prescribe some stronger ones if nothing else works.
I know how you feel...you want to control it so bad but it seems like theres nothing you can do...my advise is to tell someone exactly how you feel and im sure they will respect your opinion...good luck

Walking used to be a great way to clear my mind! Why has that Changed?

I used to walk 1 hour 3 times a day-I loved it! I would ponder my days activities, find solutions, plan my days ahead. But my children are grown now and it seems that when I walk, all I do is think about the things I could have done differently, or better, or not at all. Not just with the kids, but with my career and marriage. Thus, I've stopped walking because I don't like dwelling on the past. But I cannot run due to an old knee injury and swimming is not an option in our town. I have a good career and a good life-I've made mistakes like most, nothing earth shattering, but how can I get myself out of that rut? Anyone have any good suggestions for a mental boost?
Answer:
Sounds like your mind has gotten stronger and not as easily distracted by your walk. My suggestion is to find new sources of distraction while still having your walks which are great exercise. A CD player or MP3 player is probably the easiest. But if you would like even more of a challenge I have to say, for me anyway, iTunes podcasts have become a fabulous way to quickly download tons of interesting topics and shows to my iPod which I take on walks with me. And luckily iTunes is always updating their shows and podcasts so there is always something new to listen to. I know that may be a bit hard if you don't own a iPod but I think you can find them used on eBay and Craigslist.
too stressed out
Treat yourself!!

Go shopping and get a manicure or something!

%26lt;3
I found that the only way to snap out of a rut like that is to try something new. I found out that I LOVE cardio kickboxing--so maybe if walking is giving you too much time to think about the past then you should switch it up. Maybe get some workout DVDs or something and start out that way. Try yoga maybe?
Find a friend to walk with. Or form a group so that you can chat amongst yourselves while walking and keep your mind off any regrets that you are trying to convince yourself that you have.

Waking Up Early?

How come I always wake up late on a school day, and early on a non-school day?
Answer:
because it's the law
murphy's law that is.
you'll wake up late for school cause school isn't that attractive. you wake up early on non-school days cause your body's expecting you to get up for school, even when it's saturday.
I can relate to you on that. I noticed that i only wake up early when i am excited about something or looking forward to the next day. However, school pretty much the same everyday, Unless you have a Field trip or a presentation to give the next day.
Because you're smart! That's what I do also, and it's because I want to make sure that I do all I can to make the weekends last as long as possible. When it's a school day, the longer I sleep, the faster the day is over with. hehe. good thinking :]

Vivid dreams?

does anyone eat big meals before bedtime?

does it cause vivid dreams?

i know that when i eat a big meal before bedtime it sometimes causes nightmares or very real dreams.
Answer:
Happens to me all the time. Just the other night I dreamed that I was dressed as a pharoah on top of an Egyptian pyramid with thousands of bare-breasted Egyptian slave girls dancing around the base of the pyramid while they threw giant dill pickles at me. They were all shouting: "Quit that grinnin' and take off the linen!"

The noise grew louder and louder until my grandma came running out with foam earplugs.

Then it got weird....
No, it doesn't happen to me. The only thing that has caused disturbingly vivid dreams in my experience is Trazodone. Trazodone is an antidepressant medication that has drowsiness as a side effect and is often given to patients that have insomnia related to depression or anxiety. When I did sleep after taking it, I would wake up wondering whether or not my dreams were more real than my daily experiences while awake!
nightmares are fun because you can wake up from them, I'm bout to make some red beans and rice and I hope Freddy Kruger comes after me cuz I am gonna whoop his you know what, then I'm gonna sign some autographs and get the girl of my dreams, hopefully some dumb bloke or sheila wont wake me up out of my adventurous slumber
It usually happens to me also. my dreams just seem so real. to like the point were i can actually feel things..its cool in many ways...;)
When you eat before bedtime, you're more likely to feel relaxed and tired, so I guess you fall asleep and stay asleep easier than if you were hungry.
Eating then dozing off into vivid lucid dreams is one of my favourite things. :)

Viva La Revolucion?

Vitamin E oil?

People have said that vitamin E oil is good for reducing scars. how soon after a cut has been made can you apply the oil? can you apply it to a scab, or do you have to wait for a scar to form before applying it?

Have asked this again as i think i am likely to get more answers in here.
Answer:
Once the wound has scabbed over you can start using oil. I had an old bad scar above my eye and a friend suggested bio oil. you can get it from most chemists and it costs about 拢10.It comes in a small bottle but it lasts ages as you don't need to use much of it. It helps get rid of scars, stretch marks and lots of other skin marks. It wont work overnight but after about a month you will start to see a difference. keep using it daily until you are happy with the result then you will only need to use it about once a week. My scar is virtually gone now and it also got rid of my stretch marks.
I would wait till the scab have "fallen off" before applying the oil, as the oil could cause the scab to go soft and it can hold germs.
Defineately wait until the wound has healed, it would interfere with the healing if you put it on too soon. I know that I have heard more evidence for cocoa butter.
i hope your not cutting yourself as you are too precious for that God loves you alot, read your bible each day and find out.
Sorry it really doesn't work!

Violent music and its effect on the brain?

When I am going to do a hard work out, I put in some violent rap music and I find out I can work out harder then if I listen to something that is more pleasent, why?
Answer:
I do the same thing when I work out. The reason that happens is because endorphins get released when you listen to that kind of music and it gets you pumped up to exercise. Good luck in your workouts!

Video games makes you retarded?

well my 12 yr old cousin wiggles his hand and starts hopping and move back and forward when he plays video games and when he gets excited and its very unusual and his parents blames the video games so what do you guys think? do you know anyone that does the same thing? oh and srry for my bad english.
Answer:
def not the video games. Probably just because he gets into it so much and doesnt know what to do.
its common. it doesn't mean hes getting retarded from games, he is just horrible at them. if he had some control he would get around this problem. some people try to get rid of it but their faces can never hide their fear.
No, enless he does it all the time its not the video games
Some video games have been known to cause seizures while playing them. But they don't make you retarded. They can help develop hand eye coordination and be healthy, in moderation. Getting outside to play is important too, but unless the flashing lights are causing seizures, he'll be all right.
Video games do no such thing, but it could be a lack of other activities that he should've been doing instead. Like going outside or socializing. Whatever, he would've been that way, video games or no.
Video games are horrible. I used to play them, and I received headaches while I was playing. I was also very depressed for a time, and spoke to a psychologist, and they asked if I was playing video games, and the answer was yes. To make a long story short I stopped playing video games and very soon after my depression went away. Please tell them to not allow videogames in high amounts, especially violent ones.
I know of video games making people socially retarded - that is - not being able to hold a conversation, or effectively talk to the opposite gender.

I am assuming that this young man is simply getting excited about the games he is playing, which can be a good thing. The only way a game can effect a person is if the person does not have adequate exercise or outside influences such as friends.

Best of luck to you and your cousin!
Video games can cause your adreniline to pump. The right kind of video games is the key. Wholesome games are what I get for my children. These games can actually make you more attentive and have quicker responses. I play racing games and I love Mario Go Cart. My daughter and I had a lady get over in my lane the other day while we were driving down a very treacherous stretch of road. I immediately saw the best way out of the situation and saved both my daughters life and mine. Unfortunately the person that run me off the road kept going. The police officer said I was very lucky I told him I truely had a game plan I really believe my reflexes have been sharpened by these racing games!

Video games addictive??

who really thinks that video games are addictive almost as much soo as drugs??
Answer:
This might answer to your question. This was on CBS evening news 6/23/07. It is a very interesting story.
I can't stop playing call of duty 2..

And I'm almost 50. And a girl. It's just a great game.
hell yeah
I'm totally hooked on City of Heroes. It happens.

Is it making your life better or worse to play? If its relieving stress and not having a negative impact on your life, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Video game playing- how does it affect people?

My husband plays a video game every night for several hours. Its about an Egyptian city. Anyway he seems to have lost his social skills is it possible from playing these games?
Answer:
I wish I could find the survey (maybe you could with a google search) but it has been proved that video games tend to decrease your libido, stagnate you social skills, and lowers your learning ability (you are not stimulating the proper part of you brain.)
It sounds like he is addicted and using the games as a way to avoid some problem or problems.

Video game addiction a mental illness??

that's what psychiatrists are saying in an article in the Oregonian.for some it is as powerful addiction as heroin. This might be true because when I was a kid I lived and breated Mario Brothers and Zelda.

opinions?
Answer:
No. I played both those games, and now am 24 and take care of all my other responsibilites. Before I get on my Xbox. Its when you let go of your important responsibilities to play the games when it becomes a problem. Or like the guy before me said, they are just lazy and want an excuse to goof off.
No! The people are just lazy and would rather goof off.
i'm sorry to say that it is. i have that illness
It is possible, if you're letting it take over your life. Think of it as alcohol--in moderation, it's good for you but if you go as far as drinking so much your relationships and responsibilities are affected, it's time for rehab!
Is this a problem: YES
But people who sit down in front of a computer and let themselves get sucked into the game, had a problem before they even started the game.
I don't like the term "Video game addiction" lets call it "Reality escape by extreme passion for computer game disorder" LOL

Vibration/Pulses in head and Ear pain?

What is it? I do get weird vibrations/pulses in head occasionally. This has been situation since last 6-8 months. They are momentary. It comes and goes withtin a minute or so. Same time My ears are also painful because of it. Most of the times it pains sides od head and in ears. In ears it does pain a lot like pressure coming in abundance. It stays for a while and then go. It almost happens daily 3-4 times and no particualr time is fixed. Sometimes it now pains in eyes also. Before i was in panic and all but lately i try to calm down myself and let it go. My doctor says nothing looks weird in your ears. I schedule appointment again in next 2 weeks but I don't understand why this happens? What could be possible reasons? I have tried sinus medication (Advil Cold and Sinus) but it does not resolve it either. It is very weird feeling.

Any idea about such conditions? Thanks in advance.
Answer:
How old are you? You might have a vasculitis. IT is inflammation of the arteries. THere is something called Temporal Arteritis, It has similar symptoms to what you are describing. DO you have anything else assosicated with the pain?? rash? anything like that?

Very very bad mood, can't get it to go away( the last q. i posted was about 2 wks ago, about depression and ..

bipolar.). k, I can't seem to stay happy, Sunday my husband and I took our 2 kids to t them park(dollywood) and i was in a ok mood i played with them and all that stuff, and that evening I just seemed to get in a horrible mood on the way home. I still am...I feel the world is aginst me and i can turn to no one for help, i have bills due that can't be paid(and i know thats adding to it, i have no idea what to do about it. I feel it would be best if i were dead(most of the time) that way i wouldn't pass my feeling on to my kids(who are 2 %264 yrs old) i hate who i am, i just want to sit in a corner and cry to myself for days, i feel everything that goes wrong is my fault, and i can do nothing to make it better, i feel inadequate because i can't provide what my kids need, and i feel like a bad mother for this reason. I don't know who to ask for help, and I'm afraid if i do my family(mostly my mom) will think of me as a peice of crap, I hate asking for anything from anyone. aaahhhhhhh!!
Answer:
First think of this...later in life your kids would have to say their mom was passed or killed herself. You need to A get on the right meds B talk to a counselor maybe a family one so they know why you act the way you do sometimes so the kids know it isnt there fault and C need to just pamper yourself and do things for you that make you happy. Bills should be your first priority so that will take away your stress..instead of the theme park pay some bills. Dont feel bad for asking for help if you dont ask and dont open up then it will just drive people away from you then you really wont have anyone to help you. Just pull yourself out of the slum for your family stop feeling so bad...if you truly are this sad get on meds talk to a counselor otherwise done mope if you dont want to ask for help because otherwise nothing will be solved. You have children and need to think of their happiness. You need to set a good example for them. I know what it is to be judged by everyone I know what it is to be left out of the family. I am Deaf in hearing family who wont adjust to my needs..I grew up in Deaf community while hearing community looks down on us thinking we are dumb or disabled. I know how bad depression can be...but you need to help yourself for your childrens sake...
you have depression and what you are feeling is perfectly normal for someone who is depressed. I have it too. Please go and see your doctor and tell them how you are feeling. If they don't help you then see another doctor until you feel comfortable talking to them. They will give you some antidepressants and help you to cope again. Once you feel a bit better you will be able to stand up for yourself and let your mother in law know who is these childrens mother. Maybe you might even be able to talk to her once you feel a bit better. Good luck
You taking the first step to recovery. admitting you have a problem.. I was in your shoes but denied it for 6 months.I have now recovered%26gt; raised a family now retired and a happy Grand pa %26gt; others have done it so can you..Pls try to read The power of positive Thinking%26gt; change your thinking change your life. It works you have an illness that can be treated,, The rewards are worth it..Dont worry about others If they love you they will be at your side. My name is Ed feel free to e mail me any timeIts 7 am pacific time ill be here off and on till noon
I was told many years ago that I was the loneliest man in the world. I was very disappointed and felt I deserved better. I soon began to see how this was all true when I thought I had friends. False friends were proven within the year and I began to start anew. I had to lose some bad expectations too but this kept me from the insult unto death and I survived . I know some who didn't

Very sensitive to certain issues.?

After my first panic attack, I've since been very paranoid and fearful about dying or falling into a really deep depression. And I have had many more panic attacks since the first one. When i reflect on what actually cause them, then are often related. For eg, today my teacher was talking about the immune system and how people with long-term depression would lead to their immune system's eventual breakdown. I was so scared when i heard that ( because I have been in quite a long depression previously and I still am in one), then, i started to feel like i can't breathe properly and my heartbeat was racing! As seen, I'm very sensitive to these questions related to my illness. Is there a name for this disorder of mine? and how can i prevent these issues from affecting me negatively?
Answer:
Try listening to classical music daily in the evening. You could also play ragtime music sometimes. They are highly structured and relaxing, and help to settle the mind and body.
Be sure to get enough sleep each night, especially before spending the day away from home.
Start a journal. Write about your experiences, what you were doing, what triggered them, what time of day, and analyze them putting your results after each. Re-read all of them at the beginning of each month, and refer back for details whenever you want to.
Do research on the things that upset you. Having a complete understanding of a scary thing takes away its power in your mind.
Usually, this kind of thing passes with time and learning. But you might also find a therapist can guide you through it more quickly.
You already got the names, Depresson and generalized Anxiety Disorder. They often go hand in hand. Aside from meds, do yourself a favor and get some therapy. In the meantime, take your vitamines and live a healthy lifestyle.

Very nervous, any idea how to relax? schoool...?

Im starting college tomorrow at 6am! I dont know where the classes are at either.. so Ill have to be going there earlier.. Im scared, and nervous and afraid and worried and not sure of what. someone please make me feel better, or tell me how I can make myself feel better.
Answer:
Okay, 1st take a deep breath...[[inhale through nose for 3 seconds, hold in for 3 secs., then exhale for 3 seconds through mouth]] Just do this for a while...then, listen to some music...something calming...
When you're relaxed, start thinking about the issue of school. Ask yourself what you're really afraid of, then ask yourself what would happen after that, then after that, then after that...and so on. If you have other fears, do the same thing with them. Basicly, it will all end up the same way...life will go back to normal.
If you have to, write down what you need to do in the morning before you get to your school and when you get to your school. That helps me get to sleep when I'm nervous about the next day.
just think about your priorities ! what u are reaching for and just get a good night sleep and calm down..in the end it will be worth it all
i cant help u relax, but remember u will not be the only person there for the first time!
HeHe, I wish I had ByeDr.com to make myself better when I felt nervous a million times...Let me tell you, it's normal. As you said go early, be confident-or try to look confident. Going to college is part of your life so enjoy it. You will meet different kind of people, learn different things and hopefully it will shape your life in a way that you will be proud of yourself once it's over. Getting nervous is normal and it never goes away. You have to learn in your own way how to deal with it. Nervousness helps to make best out of yourself. Breath in through your nostrils and out through your mouth :D and again...have fun!! After college is even more tense than going TO college :P

Very confused?!?

I was just thinking of something, Why is there brail on the drive up ATM's. And why do they put the RX in the back of the store, so that sick people have to go to the very back? I was looking for some insite on this stuff.
Answer:
The stuff in the front is things that you will say "oo, cool, I want/need that!" so you buy things that you don't need on the way to the stuff you need. It's a marketing trick. The brail is purely so no one can sue for discrimination.
Maybe , they feel that it is more protected ,in the back, also there may be a matter of privacy for people who don't care to have every body know what their being treated for.

Vampire, evil, witches, blahhh?

i whould really like to be a vampire, or a witch and i really dont know why. some days i just feel really evil and i like the taste of blood and i have done alot of vampire and witches searching online but there is nothing to help me become one if it is even possible. do u know how?
Answer:
Vampirism isn't a great aspiration. Think of the fortune you'll spend on sunblock. And turning into a bat? Who wants guano all over the ol' coffin?? And these days if you bite someone's neck you'll get killed by anyone close enough. You've seen Blade right? Vampires are the easiest things in the world to kill. Sunlight, silver, stakes, viruses, blood diseases, poorly cooked pizza. You name it, a vampire has died from it.

Witchcraft, on the other hand. . . is not inherintly evil. Sorry. If you're interested in Wicca, go here for info :

http://www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/wicca.

I doubt it'll be what you expected though. Now, for general evilness I suggest playing violent video games and looking crosseyed at people while you do so.
Becoming a witch or a vampire is a personal choice you make. Its not like they potray it in the movies. You make a choice to become and then you find others who have also made that choice and there you go. http://silverravenwolf.com/ocean/host.ph... %26lt;%26lt; this can help you with your witchcraft issues and help you get started on that road
http://vampires.monstrous.com/how_to_bec... %26lt;%26lt; this I found on a whim and it seems to have some useful information. Hope this helped you!! Good Luck
ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Neither vampires nor witches are inherently evil. If you are serious about vampirism, look up sanguination. If you are serious about witchcraft try Scott Cunningham's "Guide for the Solitary Practitioner". I would avoid Ravenwolf, I think she is the Goddess of Fluffy Bunnies!
Well, slightlytwisted, you have a slight dilemma.

First off, you could become a witch, but they really aren鈥檛 evil. If fact, most 'witches' will ell you that doing no harm to others is a cardinal rule of the craft.

Second, witchcraft is n more powerful (or real) then the prayers of Christians, Muslims, Jews or any other religious organization.) You don't become a witch, summon a dean and then have them destroy your enemies and bring you their still beating hearts.

Third, although there are groups of people that call themselves vampires and they do drink blood (primarily from willing diners and animals) they are not the super powerful supernatural entities you see I the films. There are just people embracing something they like and think is cool.

What you need to do is find out what about 'evil' you like. Is it the perceived power of doing what you want without with out regard for others? Per haps it's the element of non-conformity. Or maybe you just don鈥檛 know what you like about 'being evil'.

Instead of trying to be a non-conformist by conforming to one of the more prominent dark sub-cultures, what you may want to do is redefine yourself in a more unique manner. Personally, if you were my acolyte, I would recommend the "Eotum Hut'we" The dark retreat. It requires great self-disciple but the rewards are absolutely amazing. If you want to know what you want to know, your practice the dark retreat and you find answers...but be warned, the answers you will find are answers your 'self' wants you to have, not some crazy spiritual mumbo-jumbo message from gods, goddesses or fairies.

I would love to explain the Eotum Hut'we here, but it would take far too much time and space. Perhaps someday I'll publish a paper on the subject. Until then, my I recommend that you spend some serious alone time out in the woods, on the beach (away from other people), in your room, or wherever you go for solitude and think about WHAT you consider evil. Remember that most 'evil' people do not see themselves as evil. So what draws you to evil and what do you consider evil? Once you know that, you'll not only have a better idea of who you are and what you want to do, but a much more clear understanding of what you are all about.

I wish you only the best.

Urges to kill?

Why do I have these urges to kill
Answer:
You have to use the restroom because there is food in your stomach that needs to get out. Good luck. And use the restroom for goodness sakes!
hell yeah, two points for me =) thanks!

Urgent!! can someone PLEASE help ASAP?!?!?!?

MY mom has come in from out of state (CA) and she is bi-polar, and her meds have run out. she is not able to fill her prescription here because it is the state insurance (through the gov't)

my dilemma: she's here for 3 more weeks, and i CAN NOT deal w/ her when she isn't on her medication.

q: does anyone know a way around the "system"?? so she can get her prescription filled here?

please help. i'm going nuts over here w/ her 'tude problem.

thanks in advance!!
Answer:
I am a medical professional and specialize in mental health. I also work in an emergency room. This is the answer you need: take her to the local ER. They must treat her, regardless of ability to pay, and they will not let her leave without a prescription. Just do it!
Call her doc in Ca and ask him to call in a prescription where you live - pay out of pocket for the drugs.
Call the pharmacy that filled her prescription and ask them for their advice. Maybe they can forward the prescription to your druggist and charge CA, then transfer the funds to your druggist. Call them and see what they say.

If that doesn't work, call her doctor, have the doctor order a prescription for your mom at your drugstore and just pay for the meds.
i am sorry.does she have a place she usually gets here medicine sometimes you can call them and they can send some.or call her insurance and tell them the circumstance and sometimes they will help.
She should be able to have a month of her prescription transferred to your pharmacy but she will have to pay for it out of pocket without insurance. (Call her pharmacy to see if they can call it in to one local to you)

However, she can get a drug plan on line and print out a card for $5 a month (or so) that will save maybe 50% of the cost of the meds immediately. Still not cheap, but worth the savings.

www.rxdrugcard.com

Also, if she has a AAA card, I believe they have some sort of discount available at participating pharmacies.

Good Luck.
Drugs are not the answer! She needs to exercise more and eat all-natural foods with lots of vitamins and learn some meditation techniques!!! Lots of veggies! Bipolar disorder is a made up disease by the US gov. to scam people out of money!
Here are a couple of possibilities -

Call the pharmacy number on her medicine bottles - speak with the pharmacist - ask them how to handle it.

Or...
Walk into a local pharmacy (one of the nation-wide-companies) Take your empty prescription bottles with you...
They may be able to have the prescription "transferred"

As far as paying for it..
You can always pay cash for each pill, for as many pills as required.
Or, if you go through the original home druggist, they can mail it to you.
WHILE I don't recommend it, one possible method I have used to get through when short on meds, is to cut back on the dosage, taking 1/2 the usual amount rather than going totally without. (I did feel some effect, but I was certainly better off than if I'd gone totally without)

IN THE FUTURE encourage dear Mom to arrange for her prescriptions BEFORE LEAVING HOME. Of course, all this is really Mom's problem, but, as you will be a recipient of the consequences, it would be in your best interest to see that she gets the meds...one way or another.

During her visit - try to plan a special outing for each week. It doesn't have to cost anything, or much. Maybe a walk through the botanic garden, dessert at the corner cafe, watching the sun set from a scenic location, etc. Memory making will help you both to feel more satisfied with her visit.
Try to get in contact with her doctor and see if s/he has any samples of that medication available. If not, they may be able to get in contact with another doctor or their pharmaceutical rep to get some samples.
Please take the previous advice about contacting her doctor in California. He should definitely be able to help. Also, if you contact your local mental health association they can help you find low cost or free access to medication for her. If you have a mental health facility in your area, they will also provide you with accessible resources .
If Mom has any friends at home who can fill/pick up her meds in California, she can use her MediCal, and have her normal payment. (The $3-$9 or whatever it is).

The trick is to get her meds FILLED IN CALIFORNIA BEFORE SHE RUNS OUT, AND MAILED TO YOUR HOUSE.Prior to her driving you nuts.

I'm going through the same EXACT thing, and that's the only way we found to get meds without going broke. Seems like she's on brand-name medication, if they're about $400 for a 30-days supply. Therefore, she probably shouldn't change her meds. You don't want to risk a seizure on top of everything else.

Try finding someone she knows back home to get her prescription filled at her usual pharmacy. If worse comes to worse, the ER could work, but it's usually $150 to just walk through the door.
..Yeah, these people are right, they can't refuse service at the ER, however, she can expect some nice medical bills from the emergency room to meet her at her door when she returns home.

Ur opinions on using natural marijuana in moderation 4 anxiety ?

This is an open quest.
Answer:
There are actually more side effects to prescription anti anxiety medications than there are in Marijuana. Some anti anxiety medications are physically addictive, Benzodiazepines in particular. Marijuana works differently in different people. In some it can ease anxiety quite well although in others it can actually increase anxiety and trigger panic attacks and paranoia. It all depends on the particular individual.
As an glad-to-be-ex-joint smoker then I can say that marijuana causes anxiety. Paranoia is well known effect with smokers of weed.
I am a working class person and a mother and I have had a dr tell me to use this for anxiety in the past just dont take it to far only use it for the anxiety and remeber to use it in moderation
i have no problem with pot. ive used it for a while now [not a pot head opr anyhing] and i honestly think if the government didt make so much money for possesion tickets and drug busts, they'd legalize it. alchol is definately more dangerous. i think its an okay idea as long as you dont get too hooked.
First off...It is illegal. And if you are that anxious that you need meds first get a counselor and then go to your primary care phycisian and get a legal anti-anxiety pill!
It works. Simple as that. Not the best way to deal with anxiety and stress, but is no worse than taking an benzo each day. The best way to beat stress is exercise and get to the root of the problem. Deal with the underlying issue.

Taking an Anti-depressant each day may not be a bad idea.
If it's Kosher and legal. And if it's not the forbidden Tree of Knowledge. I'm still trying to figure that out

Also if there is nonKosher alcohol consumption going on it will hurt the people who smoke or consume marijuana
Personally, that would be a completely ineffective way for me to relieve anxiety. Weed tends to make me paranoid and more anxious, which is fairly common, although some people do not react to it that way. I am all for it being made legal and am not opposed to it's use in moderation, but I know for me it exacerbated, instead of relieved, mental health symptoms. It made me moodier, more irritable, etc in general when I smoked regularly.

Also, recently study results have suggested that heavy use is linked to the development of schizophrenia. (Of course, this could just be that people with psychiatric issues...but who have not actually gotten to the point of psychosis. are trying to self medicate.)
I don't know about the smoke, but the pill mellows you out legally, and prevents those feelings of dread, and fear. That is all anxiety is. I know this first hand. I don't take the pills, ( I know I should), but they make me feel to laid back. Then I can't do anything, I mean nothing. I refuse to live the rest of my life 'zonked' out of my mind. So I do deep breathing,
when I feel an attack coming on,(which is rare). and I try to stay out of stressful situations.
Hi:

Natural Marajuana in moderation for Anxiety? Hmmmmm

Well if you don't want man made chemicals/meds and want to go the All Natural way then what about these All Natural to help relieve Anxiety:

All Natural Lavender Soothing Bath:
A wonderful warm bath with real Essential Oil of Lavender added to your bath. Lavender is known for it's calming effect, soothes your nerves, reduces tension, stress, tension headaches and many other wonderful uses. I use Lavender every where I can and most importantly I never leave home with out it!

Breathing:
Concentrate and focus on your breathing, in thru the nose for count of 5 and out thru the mouth for a count of 5. Keep it nice and regular and breathing to calm, reduce aggitation, etc is a great way to help Anxiety.

Drinks to Drink:
Warm milk is always a good drink to help calm your tension, stress, Anxiety...Milk contains Tryptophan which is an amino acid that helps to produce serotonin which we all know serotonin makes us feel better.

Catnip:
I know, sounds bizarre. It makes cats go haywire but on people it has the reverse effect. It acts on people as a mild sedative due certain chemicals that are naturally in catnip and believe it or not catnip does come in prefilled tea bags for us people

Hops:

Yes...the herbs used in making beer, also has a sedative effect on us.

Caffeine:
We all know this increases our feelings of anxiety, so try to lower the amount of caffeine that you take in a day, the more you lower the caffeine intake, the better you will feel.

Exercise:
When we exercise our bodies produce more Endorphins. Endorphins is a natural body chemical that helps to block out physical pain and also makes us happy. The more we laugh, the more endorphins we secrete, those endorphins make us to laugh a little longer which then again produces and releases more endorphins. So I guess maybe we all should just laugh non stop 24 hrs a day and keep a steady level of endorphins coming.

Alcohol:
At first when drinking alcohol we all feel a little more loosened up and less anxiety, but when the effects of the alcohol wear-off, our anxiety symptoms always come back but you are taking a chance that your anxiety level may be higher than what it was befor you drank. Another wonderful chemical reaction in our bodies.

Natural well being supplements in the form of pills:
You can try Valerian (It stinks) but if you want to relieve the symptoms you are having, then block your nose swallow real real real fast and maybe you won't be grossed out. But the benefits of Valerian Root far out weight the disgusting smell.

Kava Kava is also another herb that acts like Valerian Root does not smell as bad, but it still does stink and taste gross. I use the liquid form and add a few drops to some water and block my nose, drink real fast, and make gross faces for a minute after but to me it is worth it

Be safe and be well

Unusual Phobia?

i am terrified of homeless people. ive been scared of them all of my life. Today a vagrant man started cleaning my windshield, i had to floor the gas petal!! (no, i did not run over him)

Am i the only one thats scared of them?
Answer:
they're really creepy, sometimes i think they're some runaways criminal who's out to get me. hahahaha so yeah, you're not alone
LOL that's hilarious.
This is America.
You can be afraid of anything you want.
you got any change you can spare?
I think they freak a lot of people out.but I do not know of anyone who is actually "scared" of them.
im not sure if you are..but im deathly afraid of going into my garage at night even if the light is on i just cry my eyes out lol...guess somethin happened with one in your past people say something happened to me although i cant remember!
hey . do u get scared?? or u feel pity for them%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;
Everytime I see a homeless person I cry. This question makes me want to cry D':

No I am not scared of them, but I am scared of throwing up %26 germs %26 gaining weight all three very severly.
Maybe you associate them with a scary movie you saw. Scary movies always put zombies in old tattered clothes like homeless people! So maybe that's your association.
Why are you afraid of him? He's still a person. Just a person without a home. Try not to judge people so much by the way they look or how much money they have. How would you feel if a homeless person ran away from you because you had a home? Doesn't make too much sense does it?
Yes. I've done the same thing many times. One time a homeless man asked me for money and I gave him a dollar and ran away as fast as I could. If I see a homeless person on the side of the road, I lock my doors, roll up my windows and stare straight ahead until I am past them.
Everybody have their own fear
a lot of my family works in mental health and i just asked them and they said that there could (and probably is) be an underlying issue either to do with poverty or cleanliness it may not be a phobia if the homeless (but it could be an unusual case as u say)
sounds normal to me. If they can't succeed with having a full time job and a stable life, then why should you trust them?
I know people who are uncomfortable around them, but I've never heard of a person who is fearful of them. However, there are much more unusual phobias to have, so do not fret! http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/onelife/heal...
The website is a list of many many many phobias.
There is no problem in this, so long as you do not harm when they do not harm you ..
It must be based on some child hood memory where you were told by the elders to stay away from such people.
usually most of these people are involved in some illegal activity to meet their ends, so it is pretty much normal to keep kids away from them.
"There is method in your madness", methinks. It seems prudent, cautious, and sensible to me, since a high proportion are mentally ill, and some are unpredictable, and potentially dangerous. Maybe a psychotherapist would disagree, and want to try you out on a course of exposure therapy to them. Read more at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris... under "phobia".
No, you ae not the only one! I think that anyone would be scared of that!

Unmotivated?

I'm an equestrian, and I ride horses every day. But lately, I've just lost interest in going outside, dreading that I have to tack up a horse and all of that crap. In general, I've lost interest to do things outside. I don't know if it's just a thing I'm going through or if I'm just abnormally exhausted ... I love being outside and a week ago, I never could have imagined my life not going outside and doing things. But now I just hate it. I live in Florida, so it's disgustingly hot and dry, but that's never seemed to bother me before.

Is this normal? Has anyone else ever goen through something like this? Help!
Answer:
i think everybody goes through those unmotivated times in thier lives, its natural. your body may just be out of whack for some reason, or if youve been go go go all the time maybe you do need some time to relax. i would try doing the things you love even if you dont feel too motivated, it may come back to you as your out there. if it continues and your concerned about it, you may want to consult your doctor, theres no shame in that.
Maybe it's mild depression, or maybe you're just getting lazy.
Honey you may have a mild depression. It happened to my friend. The doctor gave her a mild medication and she was fine.
Believe it or not some people go through the same thing that you are going through ven myself at one point didnt feel like doing any thing. I live here in Tx and yes it gets hot and the humidity its even worse but the thing is that my friends who pretty much dragged me out were the ones that helped me get my stuff altogather and well now im over it. In other words its a phase that your are going through, find other things that might interest you, like music, reading, playing an instrument, anything that might help you relax. Go out to watch movies this might help you get back in the outdoor style. Try it dont give up.
well, stuff like that happens when Hormones change. If you are between the age of 15-22. this is just a age affects and mood swings. start doing some stuff inside the house and see wht changes
Take it from a 56 year old, what motivates you will change over time. Also things like heat and humidity will bother you more. Why don't you ride once or twice a week and find some other activities that interest you for the other days? You ride EVERY single day? No wonder you are getting bored with it!
People go through periods in their lives when they feel this way-- it isn't such a big deal, don't dwell on it. It's hot and dry out-- the heat sucks your energy and motivation. Don't worry about it, Just take a break, eat healthy meals, get enough rest, and keep cool for a couple of weeks. You're not depressed, you're just normal. You're entitled to feel tired or get sick of things for a little while. We all do.

Unipolar Mania in the DSM?

My dad suffers from unipolar mania and I'm just wandering why it isn't classified in the DSM as a seperate disorder from bipolar in the same way unipolar depression is.

My dad has never had any depressive episodes, only manic episodes and mood swings. Does anyone know why it isn't there?
Answer:
You know I have no idea why that is but I can guess that the mania in both disorders is the same. I always thought that unipolar did not have mania as a symptom but major depression.
Does it matter? Anyway, I have an idea. Probably because it's disputed as to whether or not it really happens. He has mood swings you say, well depression can come out, especially in men, as anger or a temper. Plenty of men never seek help for depression and go on living lives like normal, maybe watch a little more TV than usual and get more irritable and sensitive. It's possible that your dad has had depressive episodes that were missed, ignored or blamed on his moody temperment.

The other possibility is that it really doesn't matter. Unipolar mania is treated and presents itself very much like bipolar mania.

Unipolar depression is often different than bipolar depression and requires a different treatment.

Unhappiness?

I've been going through a depression, long one in fact. My parents divorced, and since then my life is not getting better at all...I'm only 16 but feel that I am already 50. My life doesn't get better and I haven't experienced a good life to my extent. I understand its my choice and I've done everything to my power. I have even gone as far as taking medication and seeing a psychiatrist. From other people's perspectives, besides the sayings that we go by all the time. How do you find real happiness. I mean, WITHOUT CLICHES or other quotes and sayings that sound good but can rarely be accomplished.
Answer:
Well, I'll start by saying first that I'm sorry for what you are going through. A lot of the time people say it'll be OK but sometimes its really not and it will be a long time before everything is really OK that sounds really discouraging but that's sometimes how it really is. But I've found in times of depression in my life that I've had to find my own personal passion that did not depend on others. I went searching around for something that somewhat made me happy and helped to occupy my mind. ( My own personal example ) It may sound silly but I started making hemp jewelry it gave me a sense of accomplishment when I finished a piece and kept my mind off of things. This is something that helped me. Sometimes you cannot change the situation that has made you so unhappy but sometimes the littlest thing that makes you happy, no matter how small, can help you make it through. Hope this helps.
God
You need to double your meds. They are not working
that must be pretty tough on you.
me, too, have my share of depression. but i realized that hapiness is something i gotta decide to have or else i'm not gonna have it.
that's a tough one. no one is constantly happy. however, finding a purpose and meaning in your life is a big part of real finding happiness. it's more of a process, not an event. it will take time to try on new things, experiment with what you like, what you are drawn to etc...find what your own talents.

another part of search for happiness is finding healthy and life-giving friendships/relationships. people that appreciate you and don't expect perfection but accept you for who you are good and bad.

you'll find your way, hang in there.
See depression treatments at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris... on page 2.
maybe you need to try different medication until it actually works.i had to go through several medications to up my moods from the depression i was going through...except your depression has a reason for why you are unhappy...i really had not much of a reason to be sad..i have heard of shock therapy working for some people.

just try to keep your mind distracted by writing poetry, reading, drawing and writing stories to express your emotions in kind of a hidden way.
i'm starting to fall back into my depressed mood though, but things that make me happier are: exercising, drawing, writing, reading miracle stories, watching meaningful movies, reading sad poems, and listening to music.
many people go through depression ...and some have it worse than others.you're not alone...
Either change the thoughts u r havin that r makin u feel depressed or change the environment ur in!
Start agen,not easy tho!!
Look afta urself!!

Unfortunately I have been really depressed lately, can homemade wine, vicodin and klonopin be a fatal cocktail

Answer:
you need to read this to Understand.
come on now girlie, dont think like that
I think you should try sunshine, exercise, and omega 3 fatty acids. Or maybe visit a doctor.
I've been really depressed too, but I'm much better now.
Yes and you know it, stop and get some help!
your not the only one that tries that. But stop it not healthy for you mentally or health wise, period. Find a professional to talk to, one that does not know you or live close by, best of luck...
Well, all are going to lower your blood pressure to a point where you won't be able to keep your balance. I highly suggest you talk to your doctor and get some help. Drinking is not suggested when mixing those meds...
More than 2 standard drinks/day will act to depress you, and should not be taken with those medications. See depression treatments, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris... on page 2, and read page 5, and view www.drugs.com. Organ damage may result.
YES IT IS..please get help if you are depressed and get it quick...
This could and would kill you..
Dont think like that!! Go to the ER...
This combination can be fatal. If you are suffering from depression, you should talk to someone you trust, so that you don't feel alone and you can release your emotions.

Under what conditions systematic desensitization is not recommended?

Answer:
Well, systematic desensitization is actually an old technique developed by Wolpe. His students have since come up with a technique that is just as effective but more convenient.

Since imagery has since been indicated to be as effective as circumstance (note "Imagery and the Brain" by Kosslyn) it's entirely possible to increase the patient's levels of stress with imagery. When the stress levels are maintained at a high state without negative consequence, the contingency between the phobia and the patient's avoidance behavior is extinguished.
http://www.guidetopsychology.com/sysden.
Systematic desensitization in the treatment of fear of flying. In this work we present the preliminary results for the validation of a systematic desensitization programme applied to fear of flying. The programme is made up of three phases: the first consists of four sessions in relaxation and imagination training, the second phase has three sessions focusing on the elaboration of the phobic stimulus hierarchy (travelling by plane); the third, with a minimum of five and maximum of eight sessions, deals with the application of the systematic desensitization, together with stop thinking. The programme was applied to 20 patients (treatment group), while 21 patients made up the waiting-control group. Therapeutic success was assessed by means of self-report scales, clinical interview and the recording of psychophysiological variables in a simulation situation. The results obtained appear to support the validity of the programme.

UK: Is there anyone like me who feels 'calmer'/ or more 'laid back' in the warmer climes such as Spain etc?

Combined with stong sunshine and the heat, I always feel more at ease with myself! Anyone the same?
Answer:
I agree 100%, I think it is something to to with hot weather slowing us down paired with the natural mood elevation that occurs with sunshine and UV index. In any event IT FEELS GREAT!
I don't feel more at ease, it high heat, I am usually too tired to move, lol.
don't get me wrong i love the warm weather but i think the feeling of calm has more to do with the fact ur on holiday and have nothing to worry about :-)
same i quickly adapt to the speed of my environment

Uh..what would you call this exactly?? :/?

okay so for a bit of background info : during april i was always sad for no reason. i would want to break down at every little thing (like too much hw/my friend having more enthusiasm towards another one of my friends/stupid thingsl ike that..) and then i started liking this guy who liked me and i was on top of the world. never depressed. then today out of nowhere i got EXTREMELY depressed (like now..) i am 15 and we're having a party today so i should be happy and excited right?? but noo i don't feel like talking to anyone..:[ this isn't bipolar or anything is it?? just a mood swing hopefully? and nothing is bothering me right now. (no school/family troubles or anything..) thank you so much for any help.
Answer:
Hi.
It is unlikely that you have bi-polar since it manifests generally far later.
It is more likely that your hormones are playing nasty games with you. When i was younger i use to feel like the world was going to end at certain times and at other times feel euphoric. Years later i know when I'm PMTin and that for 2 days i may cry at the most ridiculous thing - but i deal with it fine now because i know what it is. Try keeping a diary to plot mood swings etc... and see if theres a pattern.
The other thing i was thinking was "weather". In the UK we have just come through winter and everything is currently bleak to say the least - Seasonal Affective Disorder - does affect some people and can leave them very blue to say the least.
I still think the diary is the best bet.
Take care and be kind to yourself. x
Hun, relax, your moodswings are pretty normal for a teenager with raging hormones.
To me it sounds like bipolar disorder. But I could be wrong because I don't really know too much about bipolar disorders or your condition. Read on

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/bipolar_dis...

It could help you determine if this could be a problem that you should see a doctor for. Hope it helps!
I think your moods go a bit beyond the typical boundaries of 'teenaged hormones'

Talk to a trusted adult about how you've been feeling. You can't be fully helped over the internet, but someone who knows you can.

You probably ought to see a doctor, to rule out depression. As for bipolar, it doesn't sound quite like it, but from experience, I would definitely suspect mild depression.
omg i thought i was the only one who felt that way! im 14 and i always feel exactly the way you do! i can't wait to hear what people have to say about this because sometimes i feel really depressed. good luck!

U no i hate when people think about mental hositials?

just the veiw everyone has about them i was in one when i was 9. but i dindt no anybeeter and to me it dindt look that much diffrent then a real hospital... i have severe anxity and deppression i was never really thatt bad has anyone had any bad expericnces i mean im 16 now and i really cant remeber it that much but when people talk about it they make me think all they do is sadate u and tie u up and treat everyone like there nuts is that true?
Answer:
I know what you mean.. I knew a friend of mine that was in one for awhile.. and I visited every week. But you could see those mental patients just.. sitting/laying there, with nothing to do all day, and stay there for sometimes months. They don't get treated very well either, or atleast the one my friend was in, and they get looked down upon even by the workers.. which is really sad. But no they don't drug them and tie them up :P
no its not true thats stupid
Hollywoood...
Yes, they sedate you with a prescription drug. No, they don't tie you up. But, they do have a timeout room that has walls made of rubber (like a jump bounce house) so that you don't hurt yourself. And, they do have some big dudes to take you there when you deserve it.

If your in a mental hospital, the workers don't think you're nuts. They think you have a chemical imbalance and are trying to help you. If you're a patient there, then you think everyone is nuts. Especially the other patients.
After people saw the movie yellow jacket, is when they thought of it this way...in my opinion.
mental hospitals not bad you are right and people are just thinking of the "mental hospitals " that are on TV and thinking that is how they all really are and they are wrong

Type II Bipolar Disorder?

I was diagnosed with type II bipolar about a month ago and I'm really having a lot of trouble dealing with it. I can't handle my mood swings and I feel like i'm just "being". Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to deal with this?
Answer:
Did they put you on medication? My son is bipolar. It has taken a while to get his medication worked out right but it has made wonders for him. If you are medicated and it isn't working, tell your dr. If you aren't on medicine tell the dr. the problems you are having and see what he/she suggests.
talk to your doctor about something like lithium. it helps alot. I'm bipolar and I love it.
Read as much as you can about the disorder. Take the time to figure out what makes it worse and what soothes you. Take medication if it was prescribed and find an outlet. ie. counselor, chat group, activities such as sports. Eat healthy, get lots of exercise and get plenty of sleep. If a certain person or situation bothers you, avoid it. If you notice certain foods trigger your mood, avoid them. Its a live and learn experience. Good luck but always stay on top of it.
Have you got more professional opinions than just one? It's so dangerous to be labelled yet if it is right you can make changes in spite of the diagnosis. Sometimes we need to go completely against an opinion to prove if it's wrong. Don't write off your life. You can still enjoy your in spite of any doctor's diagnosis. Give yourself lots of room to grow and change and choose not to stay in it.
I have been on Lithium Carbonate for over 10 years now. It is the only drug I have tried and I am pretty happy with it. I have several friends who have tried many different drugs and it just is something that you have to try. Good luck
Hi:

Well, the first thing I would suggest to you would be to call your doc and get an appointment so you can discuss those mood swings and then decide on a treatment plan to put into place for you.

If you are not in therapy, check with your doc about this also, maybe it will help you. Lord knows I love therapy!

If you have started any medication therapy then you must remember that most Bipolar meds will take between 4 - 8 weeks to build to a theraputic level that you will actually notice some improvements.

A not on Lithium. Lithium and some Bipolar patients are a match made in heaven, myself included. But Lithium is not a med that a new diagnosis of Bipolar 2 will jump right into. Lithium is one of the last meds that are usually tried, it is a strong and potent med and must be monitored by a doc constantly. Is is not a med to be fooled around with. If you want to learn more about Lithium, here is a link for you:

http://www.healthline.com/multumcontent/...

I also will suggest that you learn all you can about Bipolar 2. Here are a few sites to get you going:

Be safe and be well

http://www.bipolardisordersymptoms.info/...
I was diagnosed manic depressive over twenty years ago. They now call it Bipolar disorder. And of that, I am a type II like you. It is very hard to accept especially since it still carries stigmatism and thus hard to talk to just any one about. It helped me a lot to think of my disorder as like having diabetes. You have a diorder that like a diabetic will be with you the rest of your life. No one would ever think to blame the diabetic for having their disease nor would they ever tell them to stop taking their medication. The mood swings you are having are because you have not found the right "combination" of medication that help you deal with it and feel more "normal". Unfortunately, trying to find the right combination can take some time and work with your psychiatrist. I hope you like your psychiatrist and trust them and feel that they work well with you. This relationship is crucial. I hope this helps.

Trying to control moods?

I am prone to quick changes in mood and at times irritability (lack of patience). However, most of the time I am in a very good mood and would describe myself as a happy person with a lot in life to be thankful for. I really don't understand why suddenly out of the blue I can get a bad (sad feel like crying) mood but usually snap out of it within a day or less. Can anyone please help me with this?
Answer:
I can be impatient. I like getting things done, and I'm not going to like anything that gets in the way. But where it goes from there depends on what else is going on with me. If I'm not trying to do too much, I can see the reason for any delay and accept it. If not, it's often because I'm not over being angry about something earlier that didn't go well. It's easy to make customer service people scapegoats for whom you're really angry with.

There are at least two schools of thoughts on how to be happy. One is to pretend you're happy, believing that anger, sadness, and fear are bad things that you should refuse to feel. I've never liked that. I want to let those challenging emotions work themselves through. Those who do that can find that fear can become prudence, anger can become determination, and sadness can become a basis for empathy. They can become healthy emotions when people learn to see them realistically.

That's hard to do on one's own. Our culture has all kinds of mixed messages and unhealthy messages about emotions, including the one that says you should be in charge of your emotions, not the other way around. If you really want healthy emotions, I think letting a psychologist help you is essential.
Mood Control

Bad moods damage your motivation to succeed in training or competition. They make you more prone to negative thinking, and cause distraction, often as you trigger bad moods in other people. Bad moods emerge as bad temper, unhappiness, lethargy and sluggishness.

If you are in a good mood, then even dull training can be enjoyable.

Your mood is completely under your control - bad moods are an indulgence you cannot afford. You can improve your mood in the following ways:

Through positive thinking and suggestion - say to yourself 'I feel good' or 'I am going to move faster' or 'I can feel energy pouring into my limbs'. This really does help.
By treating each element of a performance individually - when you make a mistake, refocus and concentrate on the next separate element of the performance. Treating a performance in this way ensures that a bad move or a missed shot does not effect following moves or shots.
By using imagery - imagine a beautiful scene or a time when you were performing very well and feeling good. Alternatively, imagine feeling good directly.
By reviewing your goals to remotivate yourself.
By smiling! - Forcing a smile onto your face for more than just a few seconds always seems to lift a bad mood. Try it - it really does work!

Please rate me good.

Trouble getting to sleep at night...?

what can i do to help me get to sleep i always end up staying up untill 2-300 in the morning
Answer:
So do I ! Try reading a book, when you get sleepy, leave the lamp on and go to sleep, don't do anything, don't get out of bed, because then it goes away. Try listening to soft music until you fall asleep. You can even leave the TV on and get used to going to sleep with it. But my favorite, not because I like it, but because it works the best, let your body fall asleep at 2 a.m, set an alarm for early in the morning (7 or 8), then keep yourself busy the whole day, no naps, and go to bed early, do it a couple of nights and your body will adjust. If that doesn't work, try webmd.com
start getting on a regular exercise program, that usually will snap your body/mind back on line...if that doesn't help try taking tryptophan when u r ready for bed. That's the stuff in turkey that makes you sleepy, worked wonders for me years ago and people i have told about it said it worked for them too.
i used to have the same problem, so i usually listen to music before i try to sleep. It helped me =]
Do some exercises , so that feel tired and drink milk before you go to sleep
It's 3.30am here in UK so don't ask me!
-Do some physical exercise in the evening maybe go to a gym.
- Dont watch TV as the last thing before hitting to bed.
- Take a relaxing shower before sleep.
- Finally, don't think about anything when you are trying to sleep, just relaxxxxxxxx
I have trouble sleeping as well, and im also a VERY light sleeper so every little noise wakes me up.
-Get a lot of fresh air and exercise in the DAYtime
-Take a warm bath about an hour before you want to sleep
-Drink chamomile tea or sleepytime tea about 1/2 hour before you want to sleep
-Get some lavender candles or incense--very relaxing
-Learn to meditate--it clears the mind, and can help
-If you are near 18, try MELATONIN, an over-the-counter supplement that helps even those with jet lag-or those working rotating shifts to sleep

If none of the above helps (but some should), you may need to not sleep at all when it hits 3 in the morning. Force yourself to stay up until at least 7PM the following night. You may need to do this a couple of times to 'turn your hours around'.
Melatonin works well.
Unisom is good.

And I have a number of techniques in my blog on myspace at www.myspace.com/thedavezone
I used to have this problem. I would always pick night to think over all my thoughts because i was busy during the day. I would try not to think but my mind just wanted to. This was just something that slowly stopped when I slowly started having more meditation periods during the day (I don't mean like sitting down and doing some yoga, I mean just taking time to relax.) I also tried to get all my energy out during the day or before I go to bed in order to help me go to sleep at night.

Trouble falling asleep?

I'm having major trouble falling asleep. It has been going on for about 3 or 4 days. I have not increased caffeine, I am not on any medications, and it is not anxiety. I am not anxious, or afraid, or worried about anything during these times. I just cannot sleep. I feel like my mind is racing with thoughts. I lay down, and I just lay there, and think, only to get up and start doing something. I write, or I clean, get on the computer, etc. I don't think about anything in particular either, just pondering on things. At first I was only staying up until 1:00, which is late considering I usually try to go to bed around 10:30. Then it became 2:00, now it is between 3:00 and 4:00 before I fall asleep. Alot of times I get woken up in the middle of the night, and stay up for another hour sometimes. What is this? I am running on only a few hours of sleep, yet when night comes around again, it is the same.
Answer:
Try melatonin. it is a natural compound which your body should make to set your internal clock. It helps you fall asleep at night and wake up in the morning. I have this kind of problem, too, especially when it gets really hot out. http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/69298.cf...

Benedryl %26lt;diphenhydramine%26gt; is a commonly used sleep aid too. It is pt into other over the counter drugs to make them "night time" products. Taking 25 to 50 mgs. may put you right out. It can give you a dry mouth in the AM. It will also taking the itch out of bug bites. sometimes I take it if I get too itchy to sleep, sometimes from weeds other times from bug bites.
It always happens to me during the summer (like now) because I don't have to wake up early. It goes away after a while, thankfully.
I can only sympathize and suggest an over-the-counter drug (I think natural) called melatonin.
If it keeps up for a week , get to your doctor. There are 3 new sleep-aids that are not habit-forming!! That is a big deal. They are Ambien, Lunesta, and Rozeren. Your doctor will be happy to help you out. Take care. -L

Trouble eating on paxil?

ive been on paxil for alittle over a month now and i just got my dosaged up to 20 ive been onit for 1 weeks now and i have no appetite i dont really feel hungry and im may be eating once a day i just ate lunch and it was the first time since yesturday morning, anyways i feel like throwing it up? anyone had the same affects and no im not tryin to starve myself im fine with my weight
Answer:
Quite the opposite with me. It made me hungry a lot, and I gained a lot of weight on it. But everyone is different. If it continues, I'd call the Dr. and ask about it, but don't stop the med cold turkey.
Call your doctor - you might be better off with some other drug. Paxil can be nasty, especially withdrawing from it. You might want to check out side effects online.
When you have that much serotonin unnaturally in your brain/body, it can really mess with your metabolism. See about switching drugs if you still think drugs are right for you.

Tripping on LSD?

What do you think about it?
Answer:
it makes the connection fluid between the right and left side of the brain.

once that bridge is made, you have a whole new understanding of life and the universe.
I would be scared to even try.
lsd.. no idea what it is but PLEASE SAY NO TO DRUGS
It's fun for some people and not fun for others, it depends on many things such as pre-existing medical disorders, state of mind, setting, who you're with, how much you take, etc. It can be good or bad.
Bad, bad, bad for your brain.
It can have a strong effect and can be dangerous if you're not prepared. I would suggest taking a look at the Erowid Vault for more in depth information. http://erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd.shtm...
LSD stimulates many neurochemical receptors in the brain and blood vessels. Based on its ability to create hallucinations, LSD falls into a list of diverse drugs that include amphetamine, mdma (ecstasy), ketamine, and psilocybin although each of these drugs work differently.

There is probably some neurotoxic effects, and these may last quite a long time. The toxicity may be subtle and may not be outrightly noticeable, although you probably wouldn't be able to detect, say, a 10% decline in reasoning ability unless you were really trying to concentrate.

People report liking or disliking LSD depending on the atmosphere and setting -- so it's really not that the drug will automatically make you feel good or give you a good trip.

Addiction potential is smaller than for drugs such as amphetamine or ketamine, and definitely less than the opioids (morphine, heroin, etc) or alchohol.

THC (marijuana) probably gives a better high, though illegal. Salvia divinorum is a legal herb that gives a slightly different type of hallucination than LSD, but still potent.

But, dude, the best drug is LIFE. Get a life. Or, if it's not available in your state, then at least try a round of golf. Golf does it for me.
Come on...life is way to short to be doing that. You are only going to ruin your life and the people around you. It makes you look old and gross looking. Not cool at all. Get a life, bud. Try tripping on life itself. You don't need the drugs to be a happy person. :)
Ok so it can be a lot of fun but also scary. It you are not a mentally stable person.stay away from it!
I would like to try it someday, in the right situation. Shrooms have been fun and mind opening, although I imagine LSD to not be as spiritual as shrooms, although the are very similar, but it still sounds fun fun fun.

People should be allowed to choose for them selves.

no lsd is not a neurotoxin.

lsd should only be done by those who are happy, healthy, and sound of mind. its not somthing to be taken lightly.

it literally rewires your brain, increasing the connections in certain areas. if you are prone to a psychological disorder, lsd could bring it out. but if you have a good expereince, lsd can help you learn things about yourelf and the world around you that you cannot even imagine

it is like a religous expereinece, use it wisely

Trileptal and rash?

Has anyone had experience with a rash associated with trileptal? I believe I have one and it looks like little red dots all up my legs. I am not sure if its associated with it or not. I had poison ivy previously and it has been treated and disappeared already, so I don't think that this is it. Thanks for the help.
Answer:
it can give you acne but nothing mentioned about a rash. ask your doctor as it not be a common side effect but still one of them.
I know Lamictal can cause a serious and potentially fatal rash, but I've never heard of Trileptal causing a rash. I would contact your doctor right away.

Trichotillomania?

i've had trichotillomania since the age of 12 yrs old. i've tried a self help book to stop. i've tried ying-yang relaxing balls to keep my hands busy, wearing a bandana, wearing gloves, having my nails done, etc. i am still not able to stop and it is very embarrasing to me. anyone out there with any advice?
Answer:
Hey, try something else to do with keeping your hands busy, like knitting or making greeting cards :) i rekn learning an instrument could also be useful as you are keeping your hands busy and relaxing through music therapy ... something like piana, guitar or a brass/wind instrument . I would recommend harp but is really hard to find a tutor for. Also try keeping a diary, that way you reaslise sub-conschiously when you are doing it, and eventually whaen you really find it embarrassing, your sub-conschious mind will start easing you off it . Keep the faith up sweetheart, you'll get through it when you believe you really can ;)
Yeah... I can write books on the subject, seeing that I've had the condition for about 16 years now. And you know what I've learned during those 16 years? That trichotillomania is a part of my reality and I need to accept it. The goal is control, not stopping completely.

You should make a search on Y!A on Trich 'cause I've answered several questions that deal with this same subject, and I forget all that I've said 'cause there is so much to say. For me the biggest relief was knowing that I wasn't the only person who was doing this. Didn't make me feel like such a freak anymore.

There is nothing normal about trich, but every person in the world has his and her own unique problems they must deal with. This is one of the crosses god has choosen for me to carry. He also gave me BPD and clinical depression, which suck way more than the trich itself...

If you really want to stop, and can't see yourself living life without getting rid of this habit, then I recommend you seek out a qualified behavioral therapist to help you. 'Cause there is just no way that you will find the cure in a book. No way. Can't be done. Not to crush your hopes and dreams, but it can't be done. Maybe it'd be best for you not to think about this so much, and maybe that will help you get on with your life.

Oh, and stop feeling embarrassed. I know others cannot understand, but you are beautiful no matter what. Remember that.

Trazodone, Morning After?

I am currently taking trazodone 50mg at night for insomnia. It seems to help me sleep, but my question is when I wake up I feel out of it and a little anxious (weird dreams too). The most thing that bothers me is the anxious feeling. Breathing helps get it under control. I just wondered if any of you have experienced the same. Thanks.
Answer:
This can be a fairly common side effect to Trazadone. Monitor this closely and see if it abates with a little more time. Not sure how long you have been taking this medication but this is a complaint that some patients have until they reach therapeutic dosage. best wishes
you don't say how long you've been on it but i would definitely tt my dr about it. i take it and other than feeling tired in the morning it makes me feel great. everyone's body reacts differently to medication, though, so i would check to see if this can be a normal side effect. good luck!
ok so i did some research b/c I thought it was strange that you weretaking trazodone for insomnia. Are you taking any other medications? Trazodone is an anti phycotic drug used for severe mental disorders. It has a sedative in it but The sedative is used for people with mental disorders to calm them down. There are so many drugs out there to make you sleep these days. There is no reason that you shoudl be on this type of medication unless you have some of these mental disorders. Being anxious is one of the side effects of this drug. you need to get a second opinion. Like i said there are so many different things you can take to get some sleep.
yep been there along with the morning hangover feeling that stuff was awful didnt do any thing for me i also found my reactions were slow i shook a lot i looked permanantly stoned i only took it for a week as for the dreams well they were more like halucinations than dreams purple roads orange bushes policemen dressed in yellow that sort of stuff and more told the doc in the end that if i wanted halucinations id go and buy something off the street
Absolutely...I used to take 300mg before sleep. I would wake up feeling entirely hungover. I also found it helped to minimize that feeling if I took the pills 1 hour before sleep with alot of water.

Good luck and take care of you!

Dee

Trazadone and quatiapine long term use help please!! 3 years and no differant same crazy me!?

I have been on so many drugs I hate them so many phyics so many solutions no way they push me from piller to post need to sort this please! Mental health is a science that nobody even experts understand! me Iv no faith in anything or anyone now!!
Answer:
I know how it feels I have more labels then I have letters in my name and the amount of meds I have tried I really have lost count. They either do not work or the side effects drive me even more crazier then I was. But know this I know many many people like us that in the end find the right meds that help them and get them stable so never give up hope and its always worth fighting for the right to be happy.
